Handing Off The Baton In The Dark. Barely a minute before the departure of NJ Transit Train 1633 with NJTR GP40PH-2 4109 (CNJ Tribute, née CNJ 3677, EMD, 10/1968), NJT Train 1635 is shoving into the former Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railway (now NJ Transit) Hoboken Terminal in Hoboken, New Jersey with NJTR GP40PH-2 4101 (NJDOT Tribute, née CNJ 3672, EMD, 10/1968). This pair has been repainted by NJ Transit into "heritage" paint schemes in recent years that they wore earlier in their service lives. All 13 of the GP40Ps that were built by EMD were delivered to the Central Railroad of New Jersey in 1968 and are still on NJ Transit's active roster.
Photos from across RP of NJ Transit’s 40th Anniversary specially painted & wrapped units.
Also included are the fully wrapped Veterans & Pride tribute units.
Photos of the Pascack Valley Line. This railroad was built as the New Jersey and New York RR, falling under the control of Erie, Erie Lackawanna, Conrail and NJDOT before present passenger operator New Jersey Transit and freight carrier Norfolk Southern.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
