NJT 4101 is on Train 1159 at Waldwick, NJ 12/22/2022. This second photo is even better than the first!! NJT 4101 was built as CNJ 3672. It was delivered with B&O numbers and painted in B&O blue as the GP40P's were financed by the B&O and if the CNJ ceased to run commuter trains, The B&O was going to take the GP40P's back, deactivate the steam generators and put them in freight service on the B&O. That never happened, somewhere along the line, NJDOT bought the GP40P's outright and a little NJDOT arrow was applied. In 1976, Conrail came into being. While the GP40P's were not owned by Conrail, they were operated by Conrail and did receive Conrail numbers 4100-4112. In 1979, NJT 4101, Ex-CNJ 3672 was painted in the NJDOT "bluebird" scheme seen here. The remained in DOT colors until sometime after 1983 when the 4101 was painted into NJTransit's "disco stripe" scheme.
