Remarks & Notes
Put Put. After dropping off the Grand Central Terminal garbage late in the afternoon of December 7, 2016, MTA Metro-North Railroad 102 slowly relays to the north end of BN Yard. At the time, MNCW 102 (ex-CR 2271, exx-PC 2271, nee-PRR 2271) was one of three remaining GP35Rs that had not yet been sent out to Brookville for rebuild, and thus still wore the older "Metro-North Commuter Railroad" paint scheme. While the trash cars and work flats may not be as exciting at the freight that New York Central Railroad once moved over this remaining active portion of the Putnam Branch in Marble Hill, New York, New York, it still provides regular activity on these tracks. This unit was one of six purchased by Metro-North from Conrail to replace seven leased B23-7s, a decision largely credited to the now late Rich Gladulich. Subsequent purchases acquired two more, but to the old timers the orginal six will always be known as the "Gladulich Engines". In the background, rush hour traffic is beginning to build northbound on the Major Deegan Expressway/Interstate 87.
