Remarks & Notes |
It's a typical day on BNSF's Southern Transcon as a westbound intermodal train, led by the BNSF 3787, cruises into Barstow and passes an anything but typical train that is calling on the original Santa Fe Railway Harvey House. Simmering on the point of its 23-car passenger train is the 1941-built UP 4014, the largest operating steam locomotive in the world. The beautifully restored engine is preparing to lead a special benefiting the Rail Giants museum home to West Colton as part of a two-day excursion over Cajon Pass. |
