To settle the imbalance of power on Stevens Pass (BNSF Scenic Subdivision) there are occasional light power moves between the 'Coast' (Seattle area) and the Apple Yard in Wenatchee, Washington. Most mixed freights and intermodals are loads east and unit trains are empties that traveled as loads west along the Columbia River to the Coast. Since most train unloading is dictated by the tides, port space, and there is a 1-2 day difference over the two different routes, this makes it a little tricky avoid these 150 mile light power moves.
