Remarks & Notes
Santa Fe M-160 Mail-Express Motor Car built in 1930, had a 400hp gasoline-electric power plant, it was replaced with a diesel-electric engine in 1949. The M-160 was assigned to pull Nos. 25-26 between Clovis and Carlsbad, 183.7 miles, when it replaced a GP7. Dubbed by the locals the "Pecos Valley Chief", it continued to make its runs until late 1967. Photo by Ken Crist, from my collection.

Remember Santa Fe Warbonnets

The Santa Fe's warbonnet paint scheme on passenger diesel locomotives was one of the most iconic in railroading. It appealed to travelers and modellers alike, and helped brand Santa Fe all the way from Chicago to California and Texas.
