"Aqua Train on the Upper Level"
On the morning of January 6th, 2023, New Jersey Transit's Hoboken Extra crew, with GP40PH-2 4111, takes the AquaTrack train through Secaucus Upper Level on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor. The train made several passes on each track, spraying the roadbed within the overhang structure of the station.
The AquaTrack is a high-pressure power washing system which is usually utilized to remove leaves and oily residue from the tracks in an effort to prevent slip-slide conditions. During the off season, the train is occasionally called to spray the platform areas of Secaucus Upper Level to flush passenger railcar waste tank residue that accumulates on the roadbed over time. This reduces the smell that accumulates within the overhang structure of the station.
