A westbound Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe freight passes over California Highway 4, the John Muir Parkway, at what the railroad has named Collier. Heading for the ATSF yard in Richmond, this train is now at the western end of Franklin Canyon, the railway’s route into the San Francisco Bay Area. ATSF SD40-2 5030 leads a pair of SD45-2s, including ATSF 5824 (ex-ATSF 7224, née-ATSF 5632) wearing the railway’s short-lived Southern Pacific Santa Fe merger scheme (short-lived because the merger was denied).
