Starting in April 2020, Metro-North's Waterbury Branch was shut down for long-term trackwork, the installation of signals, and PTC (Positive Train Control). This work train with a pair of GMTX GP38-2s consists of a Michels Corporation plow that digs a trench alongside the rails to lay underground cables. After working all day south of this location, the train is heading back to Beacon Falls where it will tie down and be reloaded with cables. The train just crossed the Naugatuck River Bridge in Ansonia on a Saturday afternoon in August.
