A 1970s Railroad Scene. Although assigned to the Newark Division of New Jersey Department of Transportation rail operations in this era, it looks like a scene that could have happened decades ago as NJTR GP40PH-2 4109 (CNJ Tribute, née CNJ 3677, EMD, 10/1968) passes NJTR GP40PH-2 4101 (NJDOT Tribute, née CNJ 3672, EMD, 10/1968). This pair has been repainted by NJ Transit into "heritage" paint schemes in recent years that they wore earlier in their service lives. All 13 of the GP40Ps that were built by EMD were delivered to the Central Railroad of New Jersey in 1968 and are still on NJ Transit's active roster. In reality, it's Clifton, New Jersey on the morning of January 13, 2023 on NJ Transit's Main Line as train 1109 heads towards Suffern, New York with NJTR 4109 and train 1210 heads towards Hoboken, New Jersey with NJTR 4101, seen through the frame of a tri-light signal. To left, box cars sit in the siding of Athenia Mason Supply, still a regular customer of Norfolk Southern.
