Coyote Sunset. When the GP40 trio of 4501-4504-4500 (ex-STBX [Sterling Bomba LLC], exx-Idaho Northern & Pacific, exxx-CSX) started their service careers with Atlantic Coast Line and Seaboard Coast Line, it could not have been imagine that they would become a long term residents of Coyote Wells near Ocotillo, California. Full volumes will be dedicated to the history of the San Diego and Arizona Eastern Railway (aka "The Impossible Railroad"), but during the era of the lease by Pacific Imperial Railroad (PIR), these locomotives were brought to the area. Rehabilitation efforts of "The Desert Line" have been stopped in recent years, and though hope spring eternal, this has left these 3 EMDs and a badly damaged center beam car to the elements, as seen on September 15, 2021.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
