Just south of the Spruce Siding, BNSF Railway loaded coal train C-ATMCRD0-19 passes between the old bridge abutments from a long-since removed Santa Fe bridge that crossed the original Denver & Rio Grande mainline just north of Palmer Lake, Colorado. A pair of BNSF EMD diesels, SD70ACe 8751 and SD70MAC 9648, is on the headend of this train, carrying coal from Wyoming’s Antelope Mine to Arizona’s Coronado Generating Station. This train has 120 loaded cars and weighs 17,160 tons, requiring three diesels on the rear (BNSF 9913, 8420 and 5707), operating as Distributed Power. (Palmer Lake, Colorado – March 9, 2020)
