We Never Could Have Imagined. After over a decade of absence, steam returned to the East Broad Top Railroad as EBT 16 (2-8-2, Baldwin, 1916) was restored in time for the 2023 Winter Spectacular. There is a lot more to be said about everything, from the story of how the railroad was saved not once but twice from being completely scrapped to the volunteers who kept the hope alive and the generous donation that supported all of the work. But on Sunday, February 19, 2023, it all came together for a second day to close out a very successful weekend. East Broad Top 16 pulls the coach train past Runk Road in Orbisonia, Pennsylvania on the 1600 run as the sun finally came out to shine brightly. These engine and the caboose are original to EBT, but the coaches were recently manufactured in a vintage style.
