| The first e626 locomotives of the Italian State Railways in direct current at 3000 volts were built from 1927-1928 for the Foggia-Benevento line. Quickly this type of electrification spread throughout Italy, and these locomotives were used for trains of all kinds especially freight service until the early 1990s. The e626 231 (Breda 1935) is part of the third series of such machines; many elements were included in the design that were unified with the contemporary e326 and e428. |
