Time To Go Back To Montreal. Amtrak operated its last full Adirondack (Trains 68/69) between New York Penn Station in New York, New York and Central Station in Montreal Quebec in March of 2020 when the service was temporarily discontinued due to pandemic related restrictions. On April 3, 2023, the northbound service will be restored, with that train returning as the first southbound on April 4, 2023. Long time Delaware & Hudson passenger service on this line ceased with Amtrak's inception in 1971, but was restored in cooperation with the D&H in 1974. Through various route changes over the years, it continued operating until 2020. In the scene pictured here, on August 25, 2018, the Train 69 passes over Peel Basin at the last light with AMTK 107 (P42DC) leading as it approaches its terminal in Montreal Central Station.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
