| Under Hudson County.
NJ Transit 5 section LRV no. 5016 (Kinki Sharyo, 2014-2016) is seen stopped at Bergenline Ave Station on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail - the only station on said system that is underground! The tunnel that the line uses to cut through the Palisades was built between 1882 and 1885 by the West Shore Railroad, which later became part of the New York Central. NJ Transit funded upgrades to other freight lines in the area in exchange for Conrail shifting their operations away from this line so that it could be used for the light rail. |
