Remarks & Notes |
Trifecta of Yellow. There comes a time it seems in which a railfan will unknowingly have the last encounter with a certain locomotive. This was that time with the 3806 and the third unit the NYSW 3800 on the SU99. These units would be powering the train along with the 3802 on a normal warm summer day. About a month later the 3806 and 3800 would be the trailing units on the eastbound counterpart to the 99 where they would be involved in a derailment. They would never run again being scrapped in Deposit, NY a few months after the fact. The NYSW received the GMTX 9014 and 9059 as replacements until the SD60s all were returned to the lessor in 2021.
It is always sad to see the end of things when it comes to Railroads whether it's a locomotive or a line in general. I have particularly fond memories following the 3806 and thankfully I have pictures to show of it, and the rest of the now-gone SD60 fleet on the NYSW. |
