Exploring the Reading & Northern. On Saturday, April 15, 2023, the Railroad Historians of the Lehigh Valley and the Lehigh Valley Chapter, National Railway Historical Society sponsored a “rare mileage” excursion on the Reading and Northern Railroad - Passenger Railroad. A 3-car train of RDCs covered a number of areas not normally visited by the railroad's passenger excursions, most of which have not seen regular passenger services in decades. Part of the trip included a trip to visit CNJ 113 (0-6-0, Alco, 1923), an operating steam engine that runs 100 this year. A lot of unusual trackage was covered with a few photo stops sprinkled in through out the day with a venerable set of Budd cars by a group of over 200 who traveled to Port Clinton, Pennsylvania to ride for the day. The train is seen mid-street at North Cres Street while passing through Tremont, Pennsylvania.
