Remarks & Notes |
The DT&I X 717 Wagon Top Box Car is one the Last surviving pieces of DT&I rolling stock to exist. This car is especially rare because of the Wagon Top Design.
Built By Bethlehem Steel in 1937 to a Pennsylvania Railroad design. The 50 ton car featured a 12' 1&1/2" Door opening with Dual sliding doors. The 6' Wide 50' long car with rounded top provided a 4629 cubic foot capacity.
This particular car was used as an MOW Tool Car out of Flat Rock Yard where is still sits to this day.
Just behind are some GTW 86' High Cube used mainly for Auto Parts. The 4 door version in the photo was used for Ford and Chrysler. The Eight Door Version was for GM. These are also becoming less and less common.
