Jersey High Hoods. On April 25, 2012, the small Passaic, New Jersey based New York & Greenwood Lake Railway was still operating as needed on the former Erie Railroad Dundee Spur. On a cloudy day, NYGL 1267 (GP9, ex-GN 718) and NYGL 1268 (GP9, ex-NP 317) sit outside the railroad’s shops awaiting the call to serve the railroad’s customers. A few years later the railroad’s operations would continue to taper off until a variety of factors would force abandonment of the line and its rails and equipment would be removed in 2020. Both locomotives survive today and are awaiting restoration.
