Heading To Hadley. For the first time since the summer of 2018, a revenue passenger trains crossed the Sacandaga River into Hadley, New York on Saturday, April 29, 2023. With Saratoga Corinth & Hudson Railway/Raven Rail LLC 3021 (ex-SNC 821, exx-UHRR 821, exxx-SIRT 821, née-USAX 7108, Alco S2, 7/1943) seen here on the north end, three round trips brought passengers to and from the Maple Festival. A little rainy weather did not dampen the spirits of the attendees who had the opportunity to travel over this part of the former Delaware & Hudson Railroad. A view from the locomotive shows the railroad cutting through the woods as it crosses the river.
New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
