“Playing Catch-up” Operating 5 minutes behind schedule out of Aberdeen, Amtrak 85(20), a Boston-Richmond Northeast Regional, is making up time, screaming south at 17:42 on the NEC at Bengies, MD at a speed apparently so high that the photons emanating from the Sprinter’s headlamps failed to reach the camera’s sensor in time to be recorded [satire]. Actually, the train’s speed was recorded as 106.3 mph about 2 miles south of this location, at mp 85.2. As to why it was running in stealth mode…that’s anyone’s guess.
Lots of acton one of the busiest - and fastest - sections of the Northeast Corridor plus the Capitol Limited going through Harpers Ferry, Sand Patch Tunnel and more.
