It’s a little after 2pm in downtown Chattanooga, and NS 098 (Chattanooga,TN-Birmingham,AL) is making its way south out of the Chattanooga Terminal (CT) at 23rd St. Following the heels of the devastating East Palestine, OH incident Norfolk Southern has made it their mission to get the OAR Hazmat train out on tour throughout the system making stops in certain cities for a few days to build on those efforts focusing closer relationships with local and state agencies. With the train being in Birmingham on May 16-18 this will give the first responder an opportunity to get hands-on training on how to handle a derailment with hazard materials. A few of the local railfans jokingly prefer this train as the damage control special.
