Siemens "Desiro" of type AM 08 # 8501 of the SNCB/NMBS is ready for departure in the large hall of Liège-Guillemins station, designed by Santiago Calatrava. In 2009, the new Liège-Guillemins train station was opened, after a construction period of about 7 years. It includes a monumental arch, 160 metres (520 ft) long and 32 metres (105 ft) high. The building costs were €312 million. The structure was made of white concrete, steel, glass and black stone (floors). Now, since october 2022 until October 15, 2023, the Liège-Guillemins station is the site of a major artistic project: a monumental and temporary work by Daniel Buren, one of the most internationally renowned French artists. The project is an initiative of the group Uhoda. Designed in collaboration with the architectural office of Santiago Calatrava, the work is called "Comme tombées du ciel, les couleurs in situ et en mouvement".
