Genesee & Wyoming owned Providence and Worcester Railroad' tri-weekly train FPCH (Fresh Pond [Queens], NY-Cedar Hill [New Haven], CT) had a four-pack of GE C40-8s for power (4053, 4050, 4051 & 4052) on Wednesday, May, 17 2023 as it crossed the Hell Gate Bridge. The train is seen over Randalls and Wards Islands, which are in New York County, also known as Manhattan. The Hell Gate Bridge spans more than 3 miles between Astoria in Queens, New York and the Bronx. Completed in 1917, the Hell Gate is part of the New York Connecting Railroad which was jointly owned by the New York, New Haven and Hartford and Pennsylvania Railroads and created to provide a through route on the east coast. Today it carries Amtrak, CSX, and G&W Providence & Worcester trains, and soon is projected to carry Metro-North trains as well.
