Sunday Night Special. After sunset on the evening of Sunday, May 21, 2023, NJ TRANSIT Train MM-08 crossed River Draw over the Raritan River to South Amboy, New Jersey with NJTR 4112 leading 2 cars. This locomotive was originally CNJ 3678, 1 of 13 GP40P built by EMD for service on this line. It was then renumbered NJTR 4107 before being rebuilt in the then Conrail Altoona shops with HEP as NJT 4112 (GP40PH-2). This is a non-revenue assignment, usually sent out to transport cars or locomotives to and from the shop or yard. In the background, the significant contraction that is ongoing to replace the existing span. Perhaps on short time sitting in between the North Jersey Coast Line and the Amboy Secondary is ESSAY or SA Tower. While it has been out of service as a tower for some time, it still hangs on, though one wonders for how long.
