| Siemens Avanto "Tram-Train" vehicle U 25 # 542 of the SNCF is entering Mulhouse Gare station coming from Thann. On December 12, 2010, the Avanto officially went into service with the tramway in Mulhouse as Tram-Train Mulhouse-Vallée de la Thur in Alsace. SNCF purchased twelve five-car vehicles for this purpose designated U 25500. The order was worth around 50 million euros. The trains leave Mulhouse main station on streetcar tracks and continue on railroad tracks to Thann through the Thur valley. The maximum speed of the vehicles is 100 km/h with an output of four times 130 kW. The vehicle length with the coupler covered is 36.678 meters, the vehicle width is 2.65 meters. The empty mass is 59.7 tons. They are capable for 25000 V 50 Hz AC and 750 V DC. |
