Led by a matched pair of GE P42DCs, Amtrak’s westbound California Zephyr begins its journey through the Rocky Mountains on Union Pacific's Moffat Tunnel Subdivision. The eight-car passenger train has just mounted the iconic "Big 10 Loops" and is now framed from atop Tunnel 1 in Plainview, CO. This would be the third of three back-to-back-to-back westbounds to leave Denver that morning, a very rare occurrence on the Moffat now days. The traffic, scenery and perfect weather made for a great start to the day.
