Summer Work Project. On Sunday, June 4, 2023, MTA Metro-North Railroad GP35Rs 107 (née-SOO 728, GP35, 5/1965) and 103 (ex-Conrail 2251, exx-PC 2251, née-PRR 2310, 11/1964) dropping off stone cars in New Canaan, Connecticut as part of the ongoing work projects to upgrade track conditions and increase speeds on the New Canaan Branch. The pair was returning from dropping off stone cars in New Canaan when they crossed over the Merritt Parkway in Talmadge Hill, New Canaan, Connecticut while heading to New Haven. The narrow window around the bridge helps to frame the matched pair very well while obscuring the fact that they have no cars. This line is presently out of service (May 30, 2023-August 2023) while it undergoes major rehabilitation. The 7.9 mile single track line is planned for speed upgrades to as much as 50 mph while rails, catenary and drainage are improved, and the appearance of diesel engines from the work fleet here is a rare event.
