Cogwheel railcar BDeh 1/2 # 1 "Liseli" (built 1958 by SLM, BBC and FFA) of the Bergbahn Rheineck-Walzenhausen (which is part of the Appenzeller Bahnen since 2006) is on the way as train 6152 of the line S26 from Walzenhausen down to Rheineck on the Hexenkirichlitobel bridge. The line is 1,96 kilometer long with a maximum grade of 25.3 %, the system is Riggenbach and von Roll mixed, the gauge 1.2 meter. The line was opened in 1896 as funicular and was rebuilt to a cogwheel railway in 1958, keeping the special gauge. Journey time is 6 minutes upwards and 9 minutes when running down (reduced maximum velocity downgrade). The Bergbahn Rheineck-Walzenhausen will be rebuilt in 2026 to the first fully automated cogwheel railway without driver, with a new railcar from StadlerRail.
