Remarks & Notes |
Eastbound Z-LACALT5 (High Priority Z train from Hobart Yard, Los Angeles, CA to Alliance Yard, Tx crosses the Diablo Canyon Rail Bridge. Diablo Canyon also known as the Devil's Canyon is located on a Navajo Reservation in North Central Arizona and is more than 225 feet deep with steep sides and 500 feet across at the top. The current bridge constructed in the year 1947 replaces its other '2' predecessor bridges the first one completed in 1882 replaced by the second one completed in the year 1900. The area though remote and warrants a sturdy vehicle is close by I-40 between Flagstaff and Winslow and the bridge is lit by Sunlight from day break to dusk on a sunny day helping make some nice pictures of BNSF trains. |
