The new cogwheel service railcar Xhe 2/2 # 49 of the world's steepest cogwheel railway, the Pilatus Bahn, running down as part of train 12 in the Eselwand (donkey wall) on a grade of 48 %. This new vehicle, delivered from StadlerRail in spring 2023, can load up to 5 tons, the maximum weight when loaded is 17 tons. The individual platforms can be changed in their inclination by remote control, and the mounting of a small crane is possible on each one. Technically, with regard to underframe and drive, it largely corresponds to the new Bhe 2/2 # 41 to # 48 passenger railcars. The Pilatusbahn, opened in 1889, has a maximum grade of 48 % with the unique Locher cogwheel system, the gauge is 80 centimeter. Most of the track, rails and racks date back to the time when the railroad was built.
