On the afternoon of July 29th, 2023, "glass out" Amtrak MP15DC 539, leads a loaded ballast train back and forth across the Warehouse Point (Connecticut River) Railroad Bridge at Enfield, Connecticut on the MRS (Hartford) Line. This work train is the first train in decades to travel over the north side track of the bridge and made several passes on the new track to simulate the crossing of multiple trains. The north side track was abandoned during the 80's as a cost cutting measure, but was recently rebuilt by Amtrak & the Connecticut Department of Transportation in efforts to completely re-double track the Hartford line. With traffic shifted to the north side, crews will be able to focus on refurbishing the south side.
