CSX's newest, yet unofficial "heritage unit", is ChessSX GP40-2 6914, seen here resting on a humid Georgia summer night at the small Wyvern Yard near Cartersville, Georgia. Unknown taggers put some effort into restoring the unit's nose to its Chessie days, recreating part of its 1980's look, as it was built in March 1980 as Chessie System (C&O) 4411. We often see graffiti on freight cars that remains in-place on the equipment for years, some looks good, but most of it is garbage and oftentimes offensive, yet it remains. Time will only tell if this quick tag-job will be allowed to remain in place, giving us all a great reminder of the "C" in CSX's history.
