| Once plentiful on the NW and Southern RR, the number of operable high hood SD40s remaining is now reportedly in the single digits. I caught this survivor assigned to switching Oakwood yard's westbound manifest job, building outbound trains full of newly finished autos from Detroit that will head out across the country. Built in 1973, this motor has outlasted many newer models and hopefully still has many revenue miles left. |
