Attention Grabber. At the end of the day on Monday, August 27, 2018, Batten Kill Railroad's BKRR 4116 (née-DH 4116, RS3, Alco, 9/1952) has completed the run down to Eagle Bridge, New York and is returning home over County Road 61 in Shushan, New York, catching the attention of a few pedestrians. The building to the left had seen a variety of uses over the years, but is now restored as a private residence. Shushan is a hamlet in Washington County, New York, with this small commercial district in an otherwise rural area. The Batten Kill Railroad is the present day operator of this former Delaware and Hudson line, and the line still maintains much of its vintage character.
New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
