CNJ On The RVL. NJ TRANSIT 's CNJ Heritage Unit, GP40PH-2 4109 (née CNJ 3677, EMD, 10/1968), spent a few days on the Raritan Valley Line (RVL), including a trip all the way to High Bridge on its last day on that assignment. Train X570 is seen crossing the historic stone arch bridge over the North Branch Raritan River from Branchburg to Bridgewater, New Jersey under a colorful sunset. When purchased in 1968, these locomotives were used by the Central Railroad of New Jersey (CNJ) on both the Raritan Valley and North Jersey Coast Lines. As both lines now primarily use ALP45-DP locomotives, it is an "event" when any EMD runs, much less this one. It was repainted into its as delivered paint scheme in 2019 as part of the 40th Anniversary of the creation of New Jersey Transit, in 2023 NJT celebrates 40 years of rail operations.
