Cross At Grade.The "at grade" crossing with CSX (formerly Baltimore and Ohio Railroad) at Main-6. On Saturday, September 16, 2023, 37-year SEPTA Trolley Operator Bill Monaghan Jr. retired. For his final trip, he operated a charter using SPAX 9096 (Kawasaki, 1981) to benefit Friends of Philadelphia Trolleys, an organization that Bill and others founded in 2003 to help preserve the legacy of Philadelphia electric traction. Bill, who started his career at the Luzerne Depot in 1986 working on PCCs, will continue to embrace his role as husband, father, grandfather, while no longer waking up at 0400 for work. Thanks Bill, we'll see you as a passenger on the next trip!
