A partly cloudy, moonless night reveals an eastbound Union Pacific oil train following the Colorado River into Little Gore Canyon on September 18, 2023. The lead locomotive headlights illuminate the mountainsides, later traced by the dimmed headlights of a DPU unit. Little Gore Canyon is lit up red in the distance, and just to the left and above it is Sugar Loaf Mountain that rises above Gore Canyon and glowing car headlights curving around Gore Valley overlook at Inspiration Point. In the foreground on the right are two campfires from rafters overnighting along the river.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
