Berkshire & Eastern is finally a railroad. The purchase of parts of the Pan Am Railways system by CSX called for spinning off basically everything west of Ayer, MA to this new Genesee & Wyoming affiliate. Pan Am's lines in Connecticut, physically disconnected from the rest of the system, were included in B&E. This day, PL-1 heads west from the Connecticut base of Plainville to Waterbury to drop off some C&D gondolas for Naugatuck Railroad.
