Remarks & Notes |
The Westbound "Mountaineer" is seen crossing the 520' long Frankenstein Trestle as it climbs the two percent grade up Crawford Notch. The trestle and cliffs above it were named for 19th-century artist Godfrey Frankenstein. The two GP38s pulling the train are of Maine Central heritage and are on home rails where they pulled many freight trains in their first life. |
