Heritage Meet. On the evening of Friday, October 13, 2023, the United Railroad Historical Society of NJ "Hudson River Excursion" was returning from Albany-Rensselaer, New York to New York's Penn Station with the New York Central 43 (Tavern Lounge) and "Hickory Creek" (RPCX 800733) holding the markers on Amtrak train 244 when MTA Metro-North Railroad Train 847 passed heading towards Poughkeepsie, New York with MNCW 201 (P32AC-DM, Conrail/MTA 40th Anniversary) leading near Manitou, New York. The Conrail/MTA paint scheme was an adaptation of the Penn Central/MTA scheme used when Conrail began to operate the passenger service on the Hudson Line in 1976. As part of its 40th Anniversary celebrations, MNR has wrapped this loco, reportedly one of five that will receive a special wrap. The "Hickory Creek", dressed in its as delivered 1948 New York Central 'lighting stripes', has a long history with the Hudson Line. Having spent the preponderance of its early career as the tailcar of the 20th Century Limited, it recently celebrated the 75th Anniversary of its debut on the New York Central's flagship New York to Chicago train.
