Seaboard Coast Style. On the afternoon of August 6, 2023, CSXT 7868 (C40-8W, 2/1993) led a group of six locomotives on CSX I003-06, seen passing the NY 173 milepost near lock 10 on the Erie Canal in Amsterdam, New York. While it is painted in the "Bright Future"/unofficially nicknamed older "YN2" scheme, it is notable for other reasons. The large numbers on the side of the cab are the same style as Seaboard Coast Line used, a predecessor railroad of modern day CSX. The unit has had these distinctive numbers since 1993, though sources differ as to their origin and the reason that they were applied.
