Remarks & Notes |
A pair of RF&P GP40s lead what was most likely the Sealston Switcher south out of Potomac Yard. The train is passing an inbound freight at Alexandria station. This job handled sand and gravel for the construction industry in the Washington, DC metro area. The empties in tow should have originated at Solite in Arlington. The train will fill out it's consist at one other location before continuing South to Dahlgren Jct. The cars would eventually be loaded at a Solite quarry on the Dahlgren Branch before returning north, starting the cycle over again.
