Game on! While a soccer game takes place on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Spring Rock Soccer Fields, Amtrak’s eastbound Southwest Chief #4 from Los Angeles to Chicago can be seen in the background sprinting into Downtown Western Springs towards Chicago Union Station during the last few miles of their trip. One of Amtrak’s ‘heritage’ locomotives leads the way, P42DC 161, which is painted to commemorate Amtrak’s first locomotive paint scheme, the Phase I scheme. It’s also nicknamed the “bloody nose” by many. Regular P40DC 817 trails behind the 161. Behind both locomotives are two Metrolink coaches in front of Amtrak 4’s regular consist behind the trees. These coaches are in the process of being delivered to Talgo In Milwaukee for rebuild.
