As Union Pacific "Big Boy" 4014 slowly makes its way toward the Metrolink mainline at the northern end of the Fairplex (location of the Los Angeles County Fair), a process that will take many days, onlookers gather to watch the progress. And some of them arrive in vintage automobiles, which they pose next to the big 4-8-8-4. Just before the engine is pulled to the far end of the "snap track", a 1950 Plymouth sedan parks for photos next to the steam giant. The 1941 ALCO product is heading to Cheyenne for a complete rebuild and return to steam operation. (Pomona California – November 17, 2013)
