Remarks & Notes |
The 25 kilometer long former service railroad of the International Rhine Regulation (IRR) with 75 cm track gauge and electrified with 750 V direct current since 1946, has been operated by the "Rhein-Schauen" association from the Lustenau/Austria depot since 2006. The 0-4-0 T steam locomotive # 6 "St.Gallen/Widnau", built by Jung in Germany in 1910, pulls a freight train with 8 wooden tipper wagons on the flood embankment of the Rhine between Widnau and Kriessern. The railroad was operated by the IRR from 1895 to 2006, mainly for the transportation of stones from the Kadelberg quarry towards Lake Constance for the construction of dams. |
