Gray Granite Gets A Second Diesel Ready. With the Christmas Season coming, the Gray Granite Railroad has nearly completed work on GE 25T 0825 on Saturday, November 24, 2023. This locomotive, originally delivered to the A. Roebling Company in New Jersey, saw extensive mechanical and cosmetic work, and has since emerged in a New Haven Railroad tribute paint scheme. It joins GGRR 1903, a Plymouth 35T native of American Steel Foundries in East Chicago, Indiana on the roster. The Gray Granite Railroad at Cavanna's Farm in South Glastonbury, CT is an original creation of the Cavanna Family to navigate portions of their farm, as there was no previous trackage at this location. These standard gauge locomotives pull a pair of ex-Long Island Railroad cabooses and a converted flat car in season. The farm also features seasonal produce, flowers, Christmas trees, and multiple quarries. In addition to these engines, the Gray Granite also owns a 0-4-0T that is presently undergoing restoration.
