Remarks & Notes |
VANCOUVER WA July 6 2009 — Switcher San Bernardino 1200 CBCX 565 is tied down at the old Kaiser Shipyard. The 565 is operated by Columbia Business Center and the switching operation interchanges with BNSF. EMC built the unit as Norfolk and Western 2350 (o/n E173, s/n 725) in September 1937. It was later renumbered 2400. EMD rebuilt the unit (o/n 7573 b/n 25224) in June 1959 as SW1200 2439 and delivered it to Santa Fe in zebra stripe paint. After being retired Nov 28 1973 Santa Fe’s San Bernardino shops rebuilt it into Switcher San Bernardino SSB1200, renumbered it 1239 and painted it Santa Fe blue with yellow warbonnet on Feb 8 1974. It was retired a second time by Santa Fe and made its way to Amtrak as AMTK 565 in black and silver on Aug 31 1984. From there it found its way to Columbia Business Center as CBCX 565 still in black and silver but with Amtrak painted out. Sometime in late 2009 to early 2010 it was repainted Orange and Black.
