Just after midnight on November 6th, 2023, Metro-North Railroad's self-propelled Engineering Inspection Vehicle, "IC 2020", pauses on Track 4 at Stamford Station while performing track geometry inspections on the New Haven Line in Connecticut. In the background, CSX L017 (former B750) begins the long shove to Rings End Lumber in Darien on Track 1. IC 2020 was commissioned by Metro-North in 2016 and completed by ENSCO Incorporated in 2020. It features the latest laser, optical and inertial sensor systems to analyze the condition of the rail and track infrastructure, alerting onboard Metro-North engineering specialists to any track anomalies.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
